"One of our first interior design decisions was to source some show stopping lighting pieces that were of the highest quality and of a classic style.

We wanted some exciting items that would nod to the past and complement our historic restoration project and to create a warm and charming space. Our interior design plan of the café incorporated exposed brickwork, warm hardwoods, veined marble, black leather and traditional joinery in rich royal blue and crisp white wall panelling. The brass lighting selection at The Montauk Lighting Co was the perfect fit for our project. We choose the Hicks Pendants, Darlana Lanterns, Westbury Sconces and Boston Library Lights.

The lighting surpassed our expectations and Marie’s customer service is second to none. We really enjoy working with The Montauk Lighting Co on our projects and we have received countless compliments on their pieces."

The Project

The Post Office Cafe Moss Vale is a heritage-listed building located in the Southern Highlands of NSW. Officially opening its doors in December 1891, this historic site is perched alongside the original railway station and the grand old building was once an icon of the local town, serving its community until the 1990's.

Since retirement from official duties, the interiors have had numerous fit outs and various business lives. The site was left feeling tired and had along the way lost its historic charm.

Recently, this historic building has undergone a breathtaking renovation with this modern Australian cafe now open. The interiors have clearly been given much consideration, designed to enhance the building's heritage details and telling the story of its past with a contemporary twist.

With the team from Economos Custom Builders at the helm, the building has found her character and charm all over again. With its rich history still very much in tact, the interiors sing. Clearly a lot of effort has gone into this project and the attention to detail from the Economos team is testament to their commitment to creating quality residential and commercial building projects.
